Progress at Last

So I finally made it to my sewing room today to work on some dribble bibs for the little monster.

When I started maternity leave I made myself do all the boring sewing jobs first (shortening pencil pleat curtains for starters ick!) and then finish off all the random projects I had previously begun before I started anything new. However, 6 months on I may just have a few works in progress again ;)

I bought the fabric for a play quilt for the little monster before she was born with the intention to make it whilst waiting for her to arrive.  The monster had other ideas and put in an early appearance delaying her quilt by a good few months.  Its only a simple wonky log cabin but I've never quilted before and thought I'd start on something simple.  Anyway 7 blocks down 9 to go.  The little monster's need for dribble bibs far out weighs her need for a new playmat at the moment (especially as her Godmother has made her a beautiful quilt to wriggle on) so today I had to get on with those.  They are all cut out now ready for the machine - no one ever warns you that its the cutting, pressing and pinning that takes all the time with sewing and that the actually sewing is the easy bit!

Pottering On

A nice quiet day in monster ville today; after the excitement of the little monster's christening on Sunday we really needed a bit of a stock take.

It's so nice to sit at my kitchen table and watch spring blossom in the garden. I'd planned to go out during morning nap time and have a little fettle but it was so dreary I stayed inside and did some much needed sorting out. I have a little spring inside at the moment thanks to the monster's new Godmother, isn't it funny how these little things brighten up the day.

I meant to get down to my sewing room today but it just hasn't happened, after almost 6 months of being a Mummy I'm getting used to that now :) I'm trying to make the little monster some dribble bibs at the moment as she's teething like mad and is soaking a couple a day. The 'dribbleon' bibs http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dribble-Ons are really good but £3.50 for a scrap of jersey and towelling is just a touch steep so I'm making my own ( well trying to find the time to). Luckily Granny came up trumps on Sunday and the little monster has a couple of designer (Cath Kidson) numbers to tide her over.

Starting Out

So today I decided to start a blog. I've been thinking that I need somewhere to catalogue my little adventures into the crafting and sewing world and of course the little monster's achievements for a while; so here we are. I think I've just about worked out the layout etc but I still need a blog logo and some posts!! Hopefully this blog will save my friends from having their facebook feeds clogged up with my latest creations and you never know somebody might actually choose to come and read it.  Anyway, that logo.....
